The Calcutta High Court order on Tuesday reiterating the ban on Chhath Puja at Rabindra Sarobar that the National Green Tribunal had ruled in 2018 will act as a shield to safeguard the lake. In 2018 and again in 2019, thousands had swarmed the lake on Chhath Puja, trampled on the greenery, littered the grounds, played loud music and burst crackers with impunity.
