On the eve of Jamai Sashthi, people thronged fish markets with complete disregard to social distancing norms even as prices of perishables soared abnormally to burn big holes in pockets. On Wednesday, prices of fishes went beyond affordability. Though Jamai Sashthithis year is expected to be a relatively low-key affair, many parentsin-laws clogged the markets to pay through their noses for fishes.
