    12th century idols dumped in pit at hilltop temple

    Ancient sculptures of Lord Vinayaka and Nandi have been abandoned in a dump yard near a temple atop Siddharmalai in Madurai district. The ruined sculptures, according to heritage experts, date to late 12th century AD.
